Slathia seeks people's cooperation for overall development

JAMMU, Mar 7: To ensure over all development in every corner of the State, Minister for Industries and Commerce, S S Slathia today appealed the people to strengthen the hands of the present Government.
He said tempo of development launched could only be taken to its logical conclusion with the active cooperation of the people. Addressing public meetings at Rajinderpura and Suchani in Vijaypur, block of Samba district, the Minister said the Government is abreast of the problems and hardships confronting the people on various aspects and has prioritised the sectors like, PHE, Education, Power, R&B, and Housing, which have direct impact on the everyday life of the people. Slathia said that under the Education Sector, the Government has opened and upgraded many schools in view of the needs of the people of the respective areas. He said a Central University is also being established in Vijaypur block, which will tackle the unemployment problem of the State in general and the area in particular.
He said Rs 5000 crore are being spent on the construction of infrastructure for this Central University, which will also provide employment avenues to skilled and unskilled persons, who will be given priority in building the infrastructure. Similarly, under PHE, Power, R&B and Housing sectors, the Government launched several water supply schemes aimed at to augment the drinking water supply.
Referring to the power sector, the minister said several power projects have also be taken up. On completion of these power projects the power position of the State would be stabilized, he added.
At Rajinderpura, Slathia said that the capacity of the existing 100 KV Transformer would be enhanced to 250 KV, for which he issued on the spot instructions to the concerned authorities. He also issued instructions for the construction of ladies public conveniences at the site as demanded by the people. He also said that a playground would be developed in the area which will cater the needs of the people of the area. At Suchani, Slathia said that lanes and drains would also be improved. He said work on double lanning road from Bari Brahmana to Bhadore has already been taken up for which Rs 50 lakh and assured the upgradation of road from village Raya connecting Rajinderpura will also be taken up very shortly. He also issued instructions for replacement of 100 KV transformer with 200 KV transformer, which will cater the needs of the people of the area.
