| Bhalla lays foundation stone of Mahakali Nagar link road | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 7: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today laid foundation stone of one kilometre long link road from Mahaka Mahank road to Karan Bagh alongwith irrigation channels in Jeevan Nagar, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 36.90 lakh. Addressing a gathering, Bhalla said that on the completion of link road, a population of 20,000 souls of Mahakali Nagar, Karan Bagh and adjoining areas would be provided better road connectivity. To improve the drinking water infrastructure in Karan Bagh and adjoining areas, he said that a tube well at a cost of Rs. 4 crore would be commissioned soon. Bhalla said that Bhour Camp floriculture garden being the centre of tourist attraction in Jammu city ought to be developed on modern lines by constructing view points, walkways, guest house and cafeterias for the convenience of tourists. The Minister said that Government has sanctioned Rs. 1.60 crore for construction of Primary Health Centre at Bhour Camp. He said that the Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken various exemplary initiatives to revolutionise the developmental scenario of the State. At Guru Teg Bhadur Nagar, the construction works of five lanes and drains started in the presence of the Minister for which Rs. 13.50 lakh has been earmarked. A large number of deputations and individuals of Mahakali Nagar, Guru Teg Bhadur Nagar, Chanji Rama, Malik Market and Shanker Nagar met the Minister and putforth their demands of their respective areas. Later, the Minister also laid foundation stone of Multi Purpose Community Hall at Shanker Nagar in Channi Rama, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 25 lakh by September, 2010. A deputation of Apsara Road Traders Association, Gandhi Nagar also met the Minister and projected the genuine problems being faced by them.
