| Sham takes stock of dev works in Akhnoor | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 7: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has impressed upon the officers of Archaeological Survey of India to speed up the pace of renovation work of Akhnoor Fort and restore its pristine glory. The Minister was on a day-long visit of Akhnoor to take stock of various on-going development works in the town. While interacting with the officers of Tourism Department, the Minister was apprised that Rs. 5.13 crore have been spent on the development of prestigious 'Jia Pota Ghat' located at the right bank of the river Chenab at Akhnoor and the second phase of the project is in full swing. The Minister directed the officers to speed up the pace of work and complete the project within stipulated time frame and making judicious use of funds. He directed the officers to tap all tourism potential areas in and around Akhnoor town. He also directed the concerned to submit the proposal for the development of Sumah and Kuphi areas, which are important sites for pilgrim tourism. The Minister also interacted with several deputations and assured them to resolve their all genuine demands at the earliest. Director Tourism, Jammu, S M Sawhney, Director Floriculture, Jammu, K K Sharma and officers of Archaeological Survey of India accompanied the Minister.
