| Govt departments swindle crores of rupees in Kishtwar: BJP | | Projects under IAY, NREGA | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 7: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today alleged that large scale irregularities and misappropriation of public money is being done by various government departments in far-off areas of district Kishtwar. Addressing media persons here, Sunil Sharma, BJP state secretary Sunil Sharma came down heavily upon the state government which, he alleged, has failed to come to the rescue of common masses in the far flung areas of the state. The BJP leader said that Kishtwar and some of its adjoining areas were suffering due to the callous attitude and corrupt practices of some government officials which was adversely affecting the development of the area. "The Rural Development Department, Kishtwar has become a puppet in the hands of ruling parties and was ignoring the genuine and legal rights of minority community," he said. He further said, "The RDD and its BDO's in district Kishtwar are presently doing at beck and call of the local NC MLA. All the works under NREGA and IAY which are planned keeping in view the need of the area and demands of the people are being hampered by undue interference of the MLA." "Crore of rupees under the central sponsored schemes have been swindled by the department in Kishtwar particularly under IAY and NREGA," Sharma said. "Hundreds of deserving and highly qualified candidates were ignored by the department and the district administration while recruiting the supporting staff for NREGA," he charged. Sharma criticized the government for ignoring the health sector, which was in shambles in the district. The District Hospital Kishtwar, he said, was a glaring example of mismanagement and lack of profession approach towards one of the most important sectors. The infrastructure of the hospital, he said, was worse then a Community Health Center. He said that the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar has thrown all norms to winds in recruitment process of doctors under NRHM, adding while the deserving candidates were being ignored, blue eyed candidates and those belonging to influential families were being adjusted. He said that the majority of the areas like Kontwara, Cherji, Pullar, Chingnana Galhar, Chito Padder, Ungai, Gandhari, Kabal etc were having no road connectivity while the government was only considering the villages have population from majority community. He also demanded setting up of Degree College in Paddar.
