| 'Pantrebaaz' showcased in Natrang's weekly theatre | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 7: Natrang's weekly theatre show 'Sunday Theatre' featured a powerful theatrical venture which was full of contemporary social realities. Written by Balwant Gargi, the play was directed and adapted by Balwant Thakur who incorporated several contemporary happenings to make it more relevant to our times. On the occasion Balwant Thakur said that theatre serves as a mirror to the society and today's performance was a testimony of that mission of theatre. Based on a story of two close friends, who want to befool each other by the best of their crooked tactics. The play is a big dig on the fast decay of human values and is shown majority is looking for shortest routes and unla-wful means to achieve everything in life by propagating the slogan 'Disho-nesty Is The Best Policy'. The lust for achievement is not limited to materials but it goes beyond to earn name, fame and an accomplished celebrity status through unlawful means. The play opens with the debate between two friends trying to sell their ideas to each other of becoming a multi millionaire overnight by putting to use the latest invented, time-tested and developed fraudulent means. Each tries to convenience that his idea is more realistic, foolproof and result oriented in terms of befooling public. They cite many examples of the success stories of today's political leaders who were once small-time goons but currently deciding the fate of this country. Both the friends, one is a lawyer and other is a producer of Films, one is in the habit of selling dreams among Filmi buffs and raise finances for films while the lawyer has crossed all limits to shield and support murderers, goons and disgruntled elements in the race of riches. Film Producer is settled in Mumbai while lawyer has opened his shop in Delhi. The producer comes to Delhi with his future blockbuster film project to extract money from his lawyer friend while the lawyer is already all set to use producer's money in a publication project. The inner soul of the theme bursts out in the series of arguments between these friends in the process of attempting to befool each other. The play reveals that general public despite being well-exposed and largely aware of the fraudulent scams, rejoices getting into the trap of crooks. There is no need to innovate new tactics to befool them as the memory of public is short lived and they willingly step into to trap as they in heart of their hearts are also looking for instant means and shortest routes. The lead roles of the play were beautifully played by Pankush Verma and Rohit Verma as Lawyer and Film producer respectively. They were supported with full theatrical energy by Rahul Singh and Anita Dhar. Mohit Sharma designed and executed the lights whereas Rahul Singh scored the music. Mohd. Yaseen coordinated the show and presentations were done by Sumeet Sharma.
