| Meeting with Planning Commission on March 9, 10 | | Plan size 2010-11 | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 7: Ahead of presentation of Budget for the next financial year in the state, the government is scheduled to hold a crucial meeting with the Planning Commission in New Delhi on March 9 and 10.The meeting is likely to give an indication about the plan size which J&K government will get from the center for 2010-2011. Sources said while the government has not got a final nod from the Planning Commission as to finalisation of the plan outlay, even though it has been eagerly awaiting a meeting at the highest level, senior level officers from both Planning and Finance Department will now leave for Delhi this week to attend this meeting for two days. "We will get a clear picture about the plan size if not a final announcement during these meetings....." said a senior officer in the Finance Department. The budget is to be presented by the Finance Minister AR Rather on March 12. Sources said though the state governemnt (Finance Ministry) has given its projected plan size to the Planning Commission for approval, it is yet not sure whether that would be approved in full or will have to settle for less amount. The projected plan size, as per the sources is pretty more than what the plan size J&K government got last year for current financial year.Last year the J&K government got a plan size of Rs 5500cr to meet its expenses on different fronts. It was an amount which the new coalition dispensation had asked for, far more than what its predessesors had managed to get from New Delhi, the previous financial year. "We are hopeful to get a good plan outlay for next financial year", said a senior officer contending the figures could not be divulged upon at this stage. The sources however, said the government was well preparing itself to present its case for in terms of the expendiitures it has justified while asking for aprojected plan size for the state. The officers who have been working overnight to plead their case well will now make a final presentation during the threadbare discussions with the authorities concerned in Planning Commission during the two day meeting on March 9 and 10.
