| Suicide case | | Protestors attack school premises, principal arrested | | Jammu, Oct 12 : While people staged a massive protest demonstration in Jammu city against the unjustified act of a principal of a private school which led to the suicide of a ninth class student, police said that it has arrested and booked the principal for instigation to commit suicide. Large number of people including children today took to street in Nanak Nagar area and pelted stone on Harminder Public School, where the deceased was studying in ninth class. The protestors later marched towards the house of principal and broke the window panes of the house. A large number of people also staged a protest demonstration on busy Tawi bridge and disrupted vehicular traffic for more than an hour. The protestors were demanding stern action against the principal and management of the school, which forced the minor child to commit suicide. It is pertinent to mention here that a ninth class student Jatinder Singh ended his life on Wednesday by hanging himself with the ceiling fan. The reason behind the suicide is said to be the punishment given to the deceased by the principal due to his failure to deposit monthly fee. Meanwhile, a senior police officer said, today, that the principal of the school Keerath Singh has been arrested and booked under section 306 RPC. However, the family members and residents of Nanak Nagar area demanded that the principal should have been booked for the commission of murder of the innocent child. |
