| Tankers Association call off strike | | | Jammu, Oct 12 : Patrol Tankers Association, which went on strike on Wednesday, after a driver was given severe thrashing allegedly by Central Reserve Police Personnel, has called off its in view of the assurances given by senior police officers. As per the reports Senior Superintedent of Police, Jammu Mukesh Singh alongwith Deputy Commission today met with the senior CRPF officials and discussed the matter in detail. It was assured to the police officials that the transit camp from Railway station would be soon shifted to Kathua, where a space has already been allotted to CRPF. Sources told News Agency of Kashmri that the police officer later held a meeting with the association members and assured them that their genuine problem would be looked into at the earliest. “It was following the assurances given by the SSP and DC that we decided to call off our day long strike”, an executive member of the association said. It is pertinent to mention here that the association went on strike on Wednesday after a driver was given thrashing by some CRPF personnel near filling station at Railway Station. The members of the association alleged that the due to the transit camp unjustified thrashing of the drivers at the hand of CRPF personnel has become a routine affair. They were demanding shifting of the camp. |
