| JMC employees observe strike, demand reorganization | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 8: The employees of Jammu Mun-icipal Corporation (JMC) today observed pen and tool down strike in favour of their long pending demands. Led by Dev Anand Gill, president JMC employees association, hundreds of employees assembled under the banner of Jammu & Srinagar Municipal Employees Joint Co-ordination Committee. The speakers highlighted the various problems being faced by the employees. Reports said that day long token strike was also observed at Srinagar Municipal Corporation where employees headed by Haji Bashmir, president SMC Union shouted slogans in favour of their demands. The employees served an ultimatum of 20 days to the government demanding re-organization of JMC and SMC. Since the five years tenure of the Corporations have been expired but the staff strength of all wings which were working in the old 23 wards remained same for 71 wards. It was unanimously resolved that implementation on re-organization of both the corporations of the state is only way out to redress the genuine problems of the employees. The employees have also extended full support to the strike call given by the Joint Consultative Committee during these days pen down strike would be observed completely. The speakers who addressed the demonstration were Mukthyar Khan, Rohit George, Ravinder Bhat, Vijay Pal, Kashmro Devi, Kemti Lal, Bhagat Ram, Sanju, Kastrui and others.
