| Demand repeal of Art 370, end to regional discrimination | | BJP felicitate BJYM president | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 8: The state Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president today felicitated the newly nominated president of State Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJ YM) in an impressive function held at the party headquarters here today. The function resolved to fight discrimination on the basis of region and religion and also demanded repeal of Article 370. The new president, Munish Sharma was garlanded as a mark of respect by activists of BJYM who also presented a sword to him. Addressing the function, the BJP president, Shamsher Singh Manhas said the youth had to play a vital role in making of a civilized society. "Our state of J&K is already facing many challenges and youth can only pledge to fight against all types of discrimination and meet out challenges of present days", he said. He stressed need to widen the area of operation across the state. "The youth especially should march towards villages and down-trodden sections of the society", he said. He said unemployment problem was increasing day by day and discrimination on the basis of region and religion was rampant due to wrong policies of the state government The BJYM will prove its worth and fight the problems", he hoped. Advising the Chief Minister to work towards promotion of tourism in Jammu region, Singh said such a venture could create new avenues of employment in agriculture and floriculture. Leader of Legislators' Party Professor Chaman Lal Gupta, while addressing the gathering turned nostalgic when he made a mention of his struggle under Praja Parsishad banner. "Praja Parishad and also faced many problems. \The present day youth are misguided due to changing cultural; values. The youth alone can induce in them nationalist values", he said. Holding Article 370 of the constitution responsible for unemployment in the state, Gupta said, "Special status has been creating hurdles for the outsiders to set up big industries and factories, which could solve the problem of unemployment in the state to a great extent." Former state President, Ashok Khajuria, in his address, said that the present developments in the state were not a healthy sign. "We must forge unity to give a befitting reply to all such formulations which are hell bent to disturb the social fabric and create problems for the nationalist people in the state", he said . He said the youth could play a very important role in this regard and the nation should make best use of the youth for its development and progress. The newly nominated president of the BJYM, Munish Sharma assured total prudence. "I will try to live up to the expectations of the leaders", He said the morcha activists will work more vigorously and the people will themselves realize that it is the BJP and its Yuva Morcha which is really committed for their cause. He said the anti-youth policies of the NC-Congress coalition had forced the youth to sit idle in their homes after acquiring graduate, post graduate and other technical and professional degrees. He said BJYM will launch massive campaign against the anti-youth policy of the government. Former Mayor & senior leader Kavinder Gupta and BJYM former President Pawan Khajuria also addressed the gathering. Sanjay Baru conducted the proceedings of the function. |
