| Bhalla enumerates Army's role in augmenting services to people | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 8: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that Army was playing a vital role by extending helping hand in augmenting various facilities to the people of the State. He said that Army acts as a facilitator in completing the ongoing projects that are identified by the Government in the border areas of the State. The Minister was speaking at a function organised by 213 Transit Camp near Gulshan Ground, here this afternoon. Commandant Artillery, Gian Singh and other senior officers and jawans of army were present on the occasion. Bhalla said that Jammu and Kashmir people have faced lot of difficulties during turmoil adding that scores of schools, bridges and other public property were damaged. He said that for rebuilding of burnt schools and renovation of other infrastructures, the Army has helped the Government in restoring these services. Highlighting the activities of Army, the Commandant Artillery, Gian Singh apprised the Minister that army has made concerted efforts to open scores of army schools with modern infrastructure and facilities, Primary Health Centres, Community Development Centres equipped with television and direct to home dish antennas, telephones, library and indoor games. At Bandhu Rakh in Kunjawani and Nanak Nagar, the Minister also inspected various development works of lanes and drains and laying of water supply, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 12 lakh. Interacting with the people, the Minister said that Coalition Government is making all out efforts to include Bathindi, Sunjwan, Upper area of Guru Teg Bhadur Nagar, Apna Vihar, Narwal and Bandhu Rakh into Municipal Corporation.
