Lawyers suspend work
3/9/2010 12:02:04 AM

JAMMU: Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) today suspended work at High Court and Subordinate Courts to express resentment over "murderous" attack on an advocate and his family members who were protesting against miscreants for encroaching the public lane.

In an emergent meeting of BAJ held under the chairmanship of its president senior Advocate Sunil Sethi in which the members of the BAR condemned the role of the police and unanimously decided to suspend the routine work for today at High Court and Subordinate Courts at Janipur Complex.

The meeting pointed out that a group of miscreants made a murderous attempt on Advocate Amit Gupta and his family members who are protesting against miscreants for encroaching the public lane.

According to the General Secretary BAJ, Rajesh Thappa instead of taking action against the miscreants police has registered a case against Advocate and his family members.

Due to the decision of BAJ, the members of the BAJ abstained from appearing the Courts and due non-appearance of the lawyers the work in the High Court wing Jammu and Subordinate Courts at Janipur Complex suffered. JNF
