Govt keen to provide infrastructural facilities to tourists: Bhalla

JAMMU, Mar 9: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that the Coalition Government was keen to develop Shiv Market near Railway Station as Pilgrim Tourism Market on modern lines. The Minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone of improvement and upgradation of open court yard flouring area, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 17.50 lakh. Bhalla said that thousands of pilgrim and tourists reach here at Railway Station for having darshan of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi and Mahakali Temple at Bahu Fort. He said the Government has sanctioned Rs. 90 lakh for construction of view points, walkways besides road widening from Boria Market Morh to Harki Poodi Temple along the River Tawi. He said that the Government has also sanctioned Rs. 25 crore for artificial lake in Niki Tawi, would be completed within three years, Rs. 3.5 crore for construction of Tourist Reception Centre, bathing ghat, Amphi Theatre, Public Convenience and Park near Peer Kho temple along the river Tawi under Centrally Sponsored scheme.
The Minister said that to revive the pristine glory of Dogra Heritage Complex at Mubarak Mandi, the Government has sanctioned Rs 200 crore for the purpose and Rs 10 crore Tourist Reception Centre at Railway Station. He said that for the convenience of visiting tourists, the Government is contemplating to construct Panchayat Bhawan at Railway Station where nominal fee will be charged.
The Minister went round the Shiv Market and issued instructions to the accompanied officers to ensure all basic facilities like drinking water, sanitation and proper drainage of the market. He asked the traders to remove the garbage dumped at various places and maintaining cleanliness in and around the market. Later, at Vidyata Nagar and Dongian in Bathindi, the Minister inspected the ongoing construction works of three link roads which are being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 9 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete these within stipulated time frame.
