Slathia welcomes extension of central incentives to JK

JAMMU, Mar 9: Expressing gratitude to the Centre for expanding the ambit of several innovative incentives to the State for giving a big boost to the industrial sector, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Surjit Singh Slathia today welcomed inclusion of the service sector also under the scheme in Jammu and Kashmir. The central incentives are already available to the industrial sector in the State. Chairing a high level meeting with Secretary, Union Ministry for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Dinesh Rai, here, the Minister exuded confidence that the central support will help give impetus to the industrial sector in the State. The Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Anil Goswami, senior officers from MSME and Heads of Departments, Managing Directors from the Industry Department also participated in the meeting. Dinesh Rai apprised the meeting about the latest recommendations of the Prime Minister's Task Force on Ministry for MSME related to Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting deliberated on various schemes and policies being implemented for encouraging investment in the industrial sector of the State which has immense bearing on the employment opportunities in Jammu & Kashmir. Rai hoped cooperation to the Task Force for the effective implementation of various incentives and schemes. Referring to the mounting unemployment, particularly the past two decades in the State, Slathia said that concerted efforts are underway to address this problem. He said the incentives and the support by the Centre would serve as a catalyst in bringing back the shattered economy of J&K on fast track basis. He complimented the Centre for extending central packages of incentives and for covering the service sector. He said that this will not only go a long way containing unemployment to a large extent but will also ensure the benefit of certain central packages to the entrepreneurs at all levels, thus giving boost to productivity.
