EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 9: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed joy over the passing of the women reservation bill in the Rajaya Sabha today and described it as the "historical step" in the democratic history of the country. The state unit of party has congratulated the Congress leadership led by Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for this historical and bold step. "The decision would go a long way in the struggle for empowerment of women in the country and the Congress has demonstrated will and commitment to the cause of women empowerment. The entire rank and file of the party conveyed their thanks to the party high command and the central government," they said. Soon after the bill was passed in the Rajaya Sabha, there were jubilations in the PCC headquarters here today and the JKPCC activists and leaders distributed sweets. The headquarters was specially illuminated in the evening.
