| Estate employees support EJAC's strike call | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 9: All J&K Estate Employees Assoc-iation (AJKEEA), Jammu province has endorsed the three days token strike call given by Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) from March 11 to 13. This was announced by Prem Kumar Baba, president of the Association while addressing a press conference here today. Bawa said that the EJAC is fighting for the cause of state government employees and pressuring the administration to concede their demands. He highlighted main demands of the employees including regularization of daily wagers, adhoc and consolidate employees working since 1994, release of 6th pay commission arrears with effect from from January 1, 2006, release of disbursement of 5 percent HRA, removal of pay anomalies, conversion of COLA into DA, expensing retirement age of employees to 60 years and benefit to pensioners. The leader claimed that demands of employees are just and their right but it is to utter dismay that the state government has not given due consideration for fulfillment of their demands. He said the Estate employees would complete observe strike from March 11 to 13 in response to three-day strike call of EJAC.
