Srinagar, October 12 –Work is apace on the construction of seven new Degree Colleges in the state at a cumulative cost of Rs 4.25 crore. These colleges include Dooru, Bandipora, Akhnoor, Hiranagar, R.S. Pora, Thanamandi and Women Degree College Sopore. Besides this construction buildings for seven more new colleges has also been approved, an amount of Rs 7 crore has already been released. These colleges include, Beerwah,Budgam,Pattan, Samba, Kathua, Mendhar and Basholi. Minister of State for Higher and Technical education Mr Aijaz Ahmad Khan gave this information while presiding over a high level officers meeting here yesterday. Among others Principal Secretary Higher and Technical Education Mr A.K. Angurana, Secretary Education, Director Colleges, Principals of degree Colleges of the valley and representatives of JKPCC and NBCC also attended the meeting. Reviewing construction work of new and additional blocks, the Minister instructed all the Principals to submit a comprehensive project report for purchase of new and replacement of old buses for their colleges.
