The 11 member J&K State Mini Volleyball team (boys) today left for Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) to participate in the 15th Mini National Volleyball Championship (boys and girls) which is scheduled to be held from October 15-19. The team members are Sukhvinder Singh, Yashpal Bahadur, Rajesh Smiti, Ajay Kumar, Ram Parsad, Sanjeev Kumar, Sandeep Singh, Balkar Singh, Pankaj Kumar, Tarsem Lal and Ashish Nagra. Onkar Singh and Pooran Singh are accompanying the volleyball team as coach and manager respectively. J&K has been placed in Pool D. The other teams from pool are Andhra Pardesh, West Bengal, host Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Tamil Nadu is the defending champion while U.P. finished runners up in the championship. Earlier, the team underwent a 17 day coaching camp at M.A. stadium under the overall supervision of Krishan Lal Sharma Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council.
