| Governor inaugurates NASA Convention at SMVDU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATRA, Mar 12: Annual Convention of the National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA), North Zone chapter began today at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Kakrial near here The annual zonal convention was formally inaugurated by Governor NN Vohra. Speaking on the occasion, Governor NN Vohra expressed satisfaction over the NASA being held at SMVDU and congratulated the Vice Chancellor Prof RNK Bamezai and Prof SV Thakur, Director School of Architecture and Landscape Design (SALD), SMVDU. In his address, Vohra traced the architectural history of India from post colonial perspective and emphasized the significance of architecture in the present era of burgeoning population and shrinking land. He expressed hope that the convention at SMVD University will be highly fruitful in this context as 700 young minds from 23 states of the country who are participating in the convention will come up with revolutionary ideas. Earlier welcoming the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor, Governor NN Vohra and First lady Usha Vohra, the Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof RNK Bamezai highlighted the quantum of efforts put in by students of SALD and expressed hope that the NASA convention at SMVDU would be a historic occasion for University. Zonal rendition of NASA hosted by SMVDU from March 12 to 14 has a marathon of activities including Hypothetical Design Pin Up, Bamboo Architecture Workshop, Graffiti Competition and Seminars which in essence is a congregation of ideas and energy.
