| 3rd consecutive title for J&K Bank | | 21st State Football Championship concludes | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 12: Champ-ions Jammu and Kashmir Bank today clinched the third consecutive title beating J&K Forest 3-1 in tie-breaker in the final of the 21st State Football Championship at GGM Science College grounds, here. The Championship was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association The initial casualty of red card to main striker of the Bank, Nigerian, Badru Ibrahim haunted the winners throughout resulting into the match ended in a goalless draw in the stipulated time. Badru was shown a red card for beating up the Forest goal-keeper, Arshad Ali. However, the goal-keeper captain, Vikramjeet Singh led the Bank from the front helping the side triumph in tie-breaker. Earlier, in the stipulated time both sides played equally good game, but the men from State Forest had managed an upper hand in the last 10 minutes of the game. Another Nigerian, Abdul Karim, who foiled most of the Forest attempts single handedly, brou-ght in the first blood for Bank in tie-breaker beating the guard at the net, Arshad Ali. It was followed by another successful conversion by Bank through Intikhab. On the other hand, Vikramjeet Singh saved both the penalty kicks taken by Manzoor and Shahnwaz from Forest XI helping his side take a convincing 2-goal lead in five kicks a side tie-breaker rules. However, Hatchi missed from Bank and Anus Gill netted the ball thus generating interest among the big crowd gathered at Science College to witness the submit clash. Interesti-ngly, Khalid struck another goal for Bank while attempt by Gowhar was successfully foiled by Vikramjeet resulting into Bank emerged winner 3-1. Earlier in the stipulated time, two yellow cards were shown to Forest players, Waseem Yousuf and Shahid Mushtaq while from Bank, Ibrahim Badru was slapped with a red card and Balpreet Singh yellow. In the final and prize distribution function, Secretary J&K State Sports Council, S A Leharwal was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. He was accompanied by president of JKFA, Zaheer Thakur, secretary, S A Hamid, treasurer, R K Kohli and organizing secretary, Surinder Singh Bunty.
