| Consider delimiting, demarcating of Sunderbani Municipality: HC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 12: Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir in a writ petition filed by Mohan Lal and seven others directed the state government, Chief Electoral Officer J&K, and Local Bodies Jammu and asked them to consider to under take development activities and demarcate and delimit the Sunderbani Municipal Committee on the pleadings and representation before authorities and the Deputy chief Minister to make a decision under section -10 of the municipal Act. Loharakote and Bhajwal villages included in the Municipal Committee Sunderbani in Rajouri district on 20-5-2009, the residents of the areas were paying tax but deprived of civic facilities and development. The demarcation and delimitation increasing the wards from 7 to 13 was assured to them but remained without ground action inspite of their of their approach ot the authorities including Chief Minister who asked for redressal of their grievances in five days vide his communication dated 23-1-2010. The population of municipal area was 6500 and by the inclusion of new areas increased to 8010 which attracts sub section (ii) of Section-10 of the Municipal Act 2000 and covers the slab of exceeding 5000 but not exceeding 20,000 population thereby entitles increase of the strength of the Municipal wards from 7 to 13. The Citizens Welfare Council Sunderbani headed by Mohan Lal formed during the course of public demand took up the matter in the High Court of J&K. Ashok Sharma, Advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioners.
