| Poswal welcomes opening of eight ST Hostels | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 12: Akhil Bhartiya Gujjar Maha Sabha J&K Chapter has welcomed the announcement made by Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo for opening eight hostels for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in the state. In a meeting of Sabha held here today under the chairmanship of its president Eshfaq-Ur-Rehman Poswal and other members hailed the Minis-ter's proposal. Poswal urged upon the State Government to rationally provide these hostels on need basis consideration adding that creation of several new districts including Ramban, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Shopian where such facilities are not existing must be given priority for better future of ST students. Poswal further informed that Gujjar Maha Sabha is struggling for creation of post of Tribal Welfare Officers for all districts of the state so that meaningful utilization of huge funds provided by union government for welfare and development of ST community could be ensured. The meeting also mourned the demise of Javaid Iqbal Poswal, Naib Tehsildar Tehsil Mendhar of District Poonch.
