| SC, ST, OBC confederation to gherao Assembly on Mar 15 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 12: Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes of the state will hold a protest and assembly gherao on March 15. R.K Kalsotra, State Chief of the Confederation told media persons here today that they have not been given any assurance by any quarter of the government to ameliorate their problems as such they decided to launch a crusade against the anti-SC/ST/OBC policies of the authorities. Coming heavily on the non-committal attitude of the state government, in dealing with the problems and demands of marginalized sections of the society, Kalsotra, further said that SC/ST/OBC communities are left with no other option than to come on roads in support of their rights. Reiterating the main demands of SCs/STs and OBCs which include the continuation of Inter-district recruitment, stop dilution of ST status, implementation of Mandal Commission Report i.e. 27 percent instead of 2 percent reservation to OBCs, abolishing of marks criteria and increase in the income slab for Scholarships, check on diversion of funds under component plan meant for them, Clearance of backlogs in recruitment and promotions, roster point seniority upto the HOD level and political reservation to Scheduled Tribe, Confederation leaders pledged to continue their struggle till their demands are not met. |
