| Special phone lines for cross LoC trade | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 12: In what can been seen as a move that can give fresh impetus to the otherwise slogging Trans-Border Trade currently happening through two routes of the J&K state, the Centre has finally given a go ahead signal for setting up communication facilities at the trade centres for convenience of trading community. "Even though it is a central subject, the Government of India has given go ahead signal for setting up the telephone lines for facilitating communication network for the traders.....five lines would be immediately set up as a first step in this direction", Finance Minister Ar Rather said while talking to media after presentation of budget in the Assembly today.This would give a boost to the trading activitye, he said adding that steps are also on anvil in terms of broadening the scope of trade, particularly inclusion of other items in the list. Earlier, in his budget speech, Rather the state government has sent some proposals to the Government of India for approval and allocation of funds as also for creation of infrastructure for promoting trade across the LOC.He informed that specail phone lines have been authorised for reliable communication for trade along the trans LOC routes. The Finance Minister also said a new trade policy in general was under formulation for which a committee stands constituted.This he said will involve all conerned officers and represntatives of trade and commerce to promote the trade in the state.
