Jammu, Mar 13: The Indian Reserve Police (IRP) third battalion today clinched both team titles of basketball and kabaddi in the ongoing Inter-Battalion Sports Meet of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police at Gulshan Grounds, here.
In basketball, IRP third trounced IRP eighth by a comfortable margin of 16 points with final score on board being 44-28.
Later, IRP third also bagged the team championship in kabaddi again beating the same opponent from IRP 8th Bn.
The volleyball title went to JKAP 8th Bn, who beat IRP 6th Bn in straight sets in title clash today.
FOOTBALL: The IRP 2nd Bn shall take JKAP 7th Bn in the final of men's football event.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, IRP 2nd Bn trounced IRP 8th Bn 3-0 in tie-breaker while in other semi-final, JKAP 7th Bn defeated IRP 7th Bn 5-4 again in tie-breaker.
TUG OF WAR: The IRP 6th Bn shall be playing against IRP 8th Bn in the final of men's tug of war event. In the semi-finals, played today, IRP 6th defeated IRP 3rd 2-0 while IRP 8th beat IRP 4th 2-1. Quarterfinals: IRP 3rd bt JKAP 13th 2-0; IRP 6th bt JKAP 7th; IRP 8th bt IRP Ist 2-0; IRP 3th bt IRP 5th 2-0.
ATHLETICS: Rajinder Thapa of IRP 3rd Bn shined with two gold medals in field evnets of Shot Put and Hammer Throw while Shabir Ahmad of IRP 10th bagged the 400 meters gold.
