| Revision of pay scales sought | | | Early Times report Jammu, Mar 13 : All J&K Numberdars and Chowkidars Association has demanded revision of their pay scales, to be effective from the next financial year i.e. 2010-11. A meeting of the association held here, today, under the chairmanship of its State President, Mohammad Jabbar Shah. Among others District Anantnag President Haji-Mohammad-Akbar Naikoo, Kashmir, Provincial Secret-ary, Mohammad Yusuf Kandey and Anantnag district President of Chowkidars Gulam Ahmed Magloo were present. They stated that their pay scales at the rate of paltry amount of Rs 501 for numberdars and Rs 500 for chowkidars was fixed at 2005. The then Chief Minister of the State Ghulam Nabi Azad had assured to revise pay scales at Rs 3000 per month and had assured that in the next annual budget provision for the same would be kept. But till now the salaries have not been increased, causing great hardship to the numberdars and chowkidars all over the State. They have demanded that in the current year budget provision for the same should be kept and salaries should be raised to Rs. 3000 per month each. They added that the Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla has already recommended the new pay scales at the rate of Rs 3000 per month and file in this regard is in the Civil Secretariat, awaiting final order . They demanded implementation of the same at the earliest.
