SVO presents challan against treasury employee

JAMMU, Mar 13: The state vigilance organisation (SVO) today presented challan against an accounts assistant in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Jammu, in a corruption case. When he was caught by SVO last year, Subash Chander Raina was posted as accounts assistant in the additional treasury at New Plots. As per the chargesheet, one Radha Rani lodged a written complaint with SVO against Raina on April 22, 2009, alleging that he was demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 from her 70-year-old mother Usha Rani for the release of family pension. Acting on the complaint, SVO had caught Raina red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses. A case was then registered against him under section 5(1) (d) read with section 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006, and section 161 of RPC.After completing a probe into the alleged incident, SVO presented the challan today in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Jammu, Which was transferred to additional sessions judge, anti-corruption, Jammu.
