| Sports Council staff suspends work, holds dharna | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 15: Both technical and other staff of the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council today suspended work disrupting the normal functioning at the main office and activities at different coaching centers throughout the state in support of their long pending demands. Protesting under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council Employees Association, these employees sat on a dharna outside Sports House, M A Stadium. "The Sports Minister, R S Chib made a commitment with us when we held similar protest in August last to give the Council employees all benefits of 6th Pay Commission recommendations, but nothing has been done till date," said general secretary of the Association, Iqbal Singh. He informed that till March 13 the Council staff was protesting on the call given by Joint Action Committee, but today onwards they have decided to observe indefinite strike to get their demands accepted. The list of Council employees' demands included pension and absorption of those casual employees and contractual coaches on permanent basis without further delay. Earlier, the coaches of the Council suspended work at different coaching centers within MA Stadium and outside resulting into the match of the ongoing Ist Rajiv Gandhi Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament could not take place. |
