| CBI inquiry demanded | | Embezzlement of crores under nose of Govt: Nirmal Singh | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 15: State will soon figure as top corrupt because government itself is working in this direction as embezzlement and misuse of crores of rupees in Kishtwar district during last year and hollow claims of the state government of ending corruption. Instead of checking corruption, it is working to promote corruption, alleged BJP National Executive Member & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh. Addressing press conference alongwith State Vice-President Bali Bhagat, State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora and State Secretary Sunil Sharma, Nirmal Singh disclosed that one Abdul Salam Malik, a resident of Chatru, availed a loan of Rs. 12.73 lakh from State Financial Corporation to convert his building into a hotel and till date did not return a single penny. Later, his building was shown to be falling in the alignment of the National Highway to be constructed for joining Kishtwar with Kashmir. Abdul Salam Malik received rupees 60 lakh from GREF as compensation for the said building. The Revenue authorities were not consulted by the GREF and paid the compensation in total violation of the rules and procedure. Not only this, the same building was hired by the government for opening Degree College and same is running till date. It was inaugurated by the then CM Ghulam Nabi Azad in the year 2008. The owner of this building is getting thousands of rupees every month as rent from the public exchequer. It is a clear case of corruption, which has been done with the full backing of the high ups in the government, including the ministers, added Singh. Giving another example of corruption, he said district Kishtwar received rupees 4.5 crores from NABARD for construction of roads and rupees 9 crores for construction of Kandani and Thathri motor bridges. Utilization certificate of rupees 60 lakh has been given against construction of Kandani-Naagbhatna Road, but on ground, there has been no such work. Fate of the remaining amount out of 4.5 crores has not been known yet. No one knows where this huge amount has been spent, who has cleared the bills and into whose pockets this amount has gone, asked Singh. Claiming to be in possession of all the relevant official documents, Dr. Singh demanded a CBI inquiry into these bungling. He asked the government to come out with the details of the projects where huge amounts released by NABARD and State Sector have been spent and punish all such persons who have looted the hard earned public money. Bali Bhagat, on this occasion, charged the State government of adopting different yardsticks for providing security to the leaders in Kishtwar and other hilly districts of Jammu region. He said while the senior leaders of the BJP, who are holding high positions in the party have been ignored while providing security, even the simple workers of the ruling Congress and NC, who are without any posts, are given vehicles and security. Giving details of some such cases, Bhagat asked the government to explain as to what criteria has been adopted by giving police gypsies and security to Mushtaq Ahmed Malik, Mehraj -ud-din, Hukam Chand, Shabir Khan, Salam Din, Mushtaq Ahmed and dozens of other people belonging to Bhaderwah, Bhallesa and Kishtwar. He demanded immediate provision of security to the genuine persons instead of adopting pick and choose formula and review the whole criteria in this regard. He also charged the PWD Ramban Division of becoming den of corruption, where formula of SALE is adopted, as every work order is released by paying a fixed per cent of the total cost of the project and such works to the tune of crores of rupees have been given by totally violating the laid down norms and procedures.
