| Ceasefire violated 139 times in 3 years | | | Agencies NEW DELHI, Mar 15: While Pakistan violated ceasefire agreement between New Delhi and Islamabad 139 times in the last three years, 485 Pak-based militants tried to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir in 2009. The ceasefire agreement was violated on the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K, defence minister A K Antony said today in the Lok Sabha in reply to a query. He said 14 ceasefire violations took place on the IB and 125 on the LoC between 2007 and 2009. While 77 violations along the LoC had taken place in 2008, 27 were registered in 2009, the defence minister added. He said India had taken up the ceasefire violation issue with Pakistani authorities at appropriate levels but they had generally denied such incidents during talks between the Director Generals of Military Operations of the two countries. "However, they have given assurances for issuing necessary instructions to their troops in this regard," he informed. Antony said as per assessment of Multi Agency Centre, 485 terrorists had attempted to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir in 2009. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed with Indian Space Research Organisation to provide a communication network to the Navy, including space-based resources, he said in reply to another query.
