Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 16: Justice JP Singh of J&K High Court Jammu allowed four appeals filed by New India Insurance Company against the compensation awarded by Motor Accident Claim Tribunal Ramban, and modified the amount awarded by Tribunal from Rs. 12, 69, 000 to Rs. 10, 05, 000/-. On December 7, 2003 under the jurisdiction of Police Station Banihal, the MACT Ramabn on November 20, 2007 awarded compensation Rs 3, 50, 600/- to Hamza Begum, Rs 3, 65, 000 to Khursheed Ahmed Sohil, Rs 2, 75, 000 to Shabina Begum and Rs 3, 29, 000 to Zahida Begum for injuries received by them while traveling in mini bus which met in an accident. Insurance company aggrieved by the awarded compensation filed four appeals on the ground that the driver was no affected due to valid license and route permit issued by authority. Justice JP Singh after hearing Adv RK Gupta appearing for the insurance company and Advocate Bari Abdullah appearing for the respondents observed that the compensation suggested to be paid to the claimants by the counsels for the parties would be just compensation, allowed the appeals and award made by MACT Ramban are modified as Hamza Begum held entitled to receive Rs 2, 60, 000/-, Khursheed Ahmed Sohil shall receive Rs 2, 60, 000, Sabina Begum would receive Rs 2, 25, 000 and Zahida Begum is entitled to Rs 2, 60, 000 as compensation along with 7 ½ percent interest from the date of award of the Tribunal and directed Registrar Judicial of the High Court to release the amount covered by the modified awards to the claimants on the proper identification.
