EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 17: Governor, N. N. Vohra, today emphasized the need for forging productive collaborative arrangements and partnerships among the Universities and other institutions of higher learning in J&K State for maximizing the benefits of available infrastructural and human resources to make Jammu and Kashmir an educational hub of the country. While the issues involving the two State Farm Universities, located in Srinagar and Jammu, are distinctly different and get discussed separately, today's informal discussions with the Vice Chancellors of the remaining 5 universities had been convened to discuss the common problems and issues facing these varsities and to evolve, to the maximum extent possible, a well harmonized collectively agreed approach to advancing the frontiers of higher education while ensuring against any wastage of precious financial resources. Certain broad understandings emerged after an over 3 hour meeting, which agreed that the 5 Vice Chancellors would hold a further meeting, in the next few weeks, in which a few identified issues would be discussed. These issues would be from among those which emerged from the discussions in today's meeting. The Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof. Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, Prof. Riyaz Punjabi, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Prof. R. N. K. Bamezai, Vice Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, Prof. Siddiq Wahid, Vice Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Masood Choudhary and Principal Secretary to the Governor, Raj Kumar Goyal, participated in the meeting.
