| Committee constituted to identify more administrative units: Bhalla | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 17: Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that government has constituted a committee in January last to look into the demands for grant of administrative units in various areas of the State. He said the committee has been asked to submit its recommendation to the government within a period of one year from the date of issuance of the government order. Replying to a question by Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat, the Minister said that there is no such proposal as yet for grant of Tehsil status to Block Wakoora of Ganderbal district. He said that the government would consider such demands after receiving the recommendations of the committee. In reply to another question by Showkat Hussain Ganaie, Bhalla said that government is serious to enhance the monthly salaries of Lumberdars and Chowkidars. Minister while replying the supplementaries by Javeed Rana, Naresh Gupta, Abdul Gani Vakil and Altaf Ahmed Wani, Minister said that government has submitted a proposal to Finance Department for approval of funds to enhance the wages of Lumberdars and Chowkidars and assured the House that after receiving funds from the Finance Department, the demand for enhancement of their wages would be considered. Javeed Rana, however, ridiculed the claims of the government and said that despite an announcement was made to provide Free Travelling Cards to Lumberdars and Chowkidars on state transport buses, it has not yet been implemented. He asked the Minister when the scheme will be introduced to give benefits to Lumberdars and Chowkidars.
