| Exploring Hydro Power Potential in J&K | | | Jammu: J.L.Arora, Consultant Hydro power and Ex-Chief Engineer Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. Simla (H.P), guided the faculty and students of Electrical Engineering at the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) on the nitty gritties of a hydro power station. An expert in the field of hydro power in the hilly areas, Mr Arora has over 35 years of experience in the design and running of power stations. He has guided Himachal Pradesh government on various projects which are in the pipe line in that State. Presently, he is preparing DPR (Detailed Project Report) of more hydro projects in H.P. Starting his speech from the conceptual level, giving the parameters required to be considered for construction of a power station, he detailed about each and every component of a power station. He also covered on the career prospects available in this field and the web sites to be visited for job opportunities. He brought out that every year thousands of vacancies are created for electrical engineers in hydro sector. Prof. S.K.Sharma, Principal MIET thanked Mr. Arora for his kind address to students in spite his very busy schedule during his brief visit to J&K State.
