| 4 Cops among 10 injured | | | Early Times Report JAMMU: Amid total shut down, ten persons including four police men sustained injuries in violent clashes at Sopore today. According to reports, Sopore town observed total shut down today in protest against killing of a civilian in an exchange of fire between the militants and the police yesterday. The people were aghast over ransacking of houses and shops allegedly by the police incident. Reports said, a procession from the slain civilian's area, Maharajpora started marching towards the city centre. It was intercepted by the police and CRPF personnel. Soon after violent clashes ensued in the area. The police lobbed scores of tear smoke shells and also fired several rounds in air to disperse the protesters. The clashes left ten persons including four police men wounded. The injured were given first aid in the hospital. The relatives of the slain civilian, Tanvir Ahmad of Maharajpora accused the CRPF of killing him in cold blood. "He was not killed in cross firing. He was killed when the gun fight had ended. We also saw police personnel ransacking shops and houses", they said.
