| 5178 dwelling units coming up in JK: Dy CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 18: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today called upon the officers of Housing and Urban Development Department to work with dedication and devotion for timely completion of all ongoing projects in the State to benefit the people at gross root level. The Deputy Chief Minister was reviewing the progress registered under State and the Centrally Sponsored Schemes under Urban Development Sector in the State at a high level meeting of the officers here. He directed for construction of dwelling units on available land of the Municipal Corporations on self financing basis for the people belonging to weaker sections of the society. Tara Chand directed for third party monitoring of various State and Centrally Sponsored Urban Developmental Schemes, adding that no compromise on quality will be tolerated. Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister was informed that under Integrated Housing Slum Development Project (IHSDP) the construction work of 5178 dwelling units at a cost of Rs.70 crore is presently at various stages in 25 towns of the State. Whereas under Integrated Development of Medium Towns (IDMT) 95% construction work on 657 lanes, drains and other urban development schemes, at a cost of Rs.6.40 crore, has been completed by ending February during current fiscal. The meeting was told that an expenditure of Rs.5.42 crore has been booked for the improvement of town drainage system during the period in the State. Over Rs.309.52 crore have been sanctioned for the implementation of the various Urban development works of PHE, R&B and other sectors under Urban Infrastructure Development of Small Medium Towns (UIDSMT) in 9 towns of the State, the meeting was told. While reviewing the performance of SMC and JMC, the Deputy Chief Minister was informed that revenue of Rs 17.38 crore has been realized under Building Permission Cases, Health, Revenue, Transport and Veterinary sections by the two corporations during the past 11 months. Under Capital City Development Programme (CCDP), the corporations have taken up the construction on 1650 lanes, drains, culverts and other schemes at a cost of Rs.12 crore. Of these, 1354 works have been completed with an expenditure of Rs.9.40 crore during the period. As many as, 7482 High Pressure Sodium Vapour (HPSV) street lights have been installed at a cost of Rs.2 crore, the meeting was informed. |
