| Govt bracing up to rationalize health institutions: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 18: The Government is bracing up to effect rationalization of health institutions across the State for which a document would be laid in the House during the current session. This was stated by Minister for Health and Horticulture Sham Lal Sharma, in reply to supplimentaries on a series of similar questions, during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly, here today. The Minister said that it has been observed that in some areas many health centers were setup on political considerations, not having much area to cater. He said there are also areas where health institutions were not available even within scores of kilometers. Responding to the demands of the members for opening sub centers in their respective constituencies, the Minister said that a proposal for 200 sub centers has been submitted to the Union Health Ministry, which is expected to get the approval shortly. The Minister also said that the Government has created 2,500 posts to meet the requirement of medicos and paramedics. To ensure effective implementation of the flagship schemes, the matter to make the guidelines more state specific has been taken up with the Union Government and a positive response is expected, the Minister said. Replying to the main questions by Sukh Nandan and Ashok Kumar, the Minister gave details about the steps taken to improve health delivery at Marh Sub District Hospital and steps being taken to accessibility of medicare services in far off areas of Ramban constituency for which Allopathic Dispensaries of Kastigarh and Halla are being upgraded to the level of Primary Health Centers. Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo, Abdul Majid Wani, Ashok Khajuria , Peerzada Mansoor, Er Abdul Rashed , A R Veeri and Mehbooba Mufti and Ahmed Kitchloo raised the supplimentaries.
