| Handa College organizes seminar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 18: A one day seminar on “Challenges of Women in 21st Century” was organized in Handa College of Education on Thursday in collaboration with Center Adult and Continuing Education, University of Jammu .The seminar was held in two technical sessions. A.G Malik, Minister for Higher Education was the Chief Guest and Prof. Rajiv Gupta , Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu presided over the seminar. The sub themes of the seminar were ‘Violence and Crimes against women and its remedial measures’, ‘Role of education in creating awareness about health and hygiene among rural women’, ‘Women Health Challenges’ and ‘Female infanticide/foeticide and its remedial measures’. At the first instance the Exhibition of workshop on Teaching -aids was inaugurated by the dignitaries. The quarterly college newsletter was also released. Prof. Phoola Chowdhary introduced the topic of the seminar to all the guests and delivered a key note address. The resource persons for the seminar were Dr.Renu Gupta, Director MIER College of Education, Prof. Pallavi Sachdeva, Project Officer, Center for Adult/Continuing Edu. and Extension, University of Jammu, Dr. Sudha Sharma, Asst. Prof., Department of Gynaecologist, GMC Jammu, Vandana Sharma, Advocate High Court Jammu and Dr. Shikha Sharma from ASCOMS Sidhra. Veena Handa, Chairperson of the College congratulated the college authorities, students and all the concerned staff for making Handa College of Education as a platform for creating awareness among all the sections of society about the problems of women. Malik and Prof. Gupta applauded the role of the college authorities for organizing such seminar. Prominent among others who were present on the occasion include Dr Nirmal Singh, Savita Bakshi, Rajni Bala and Sneh Bali. |
