Jammu, Mar 19: Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda, today sanctioned scholarship worth Rs. 3.45 lakh in favour of 115 school going children of police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who have laid down their lives while fighting militancy in the State. The scholarship has been sanctioned for the academic year 2008-2009.
Giving details, Khoda said that the scholarship has been sanctioned in favour of the wards of police martyrs, studying in different classes of various educational institutions across the State. He said that the scholarship has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund for the academic year, 2008-2009.
The DGP said that the parents of these wards have sacrificed their lives for the integrity of the State and it is due to their supreme sacrifices that we have succeeded in bringing normalcy in the State. He said that it is the prime duty of Jammu and Kashmir Police organization to take care of these wards and help them in securing a prosperous future. In this regard, Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization has established a Central Police Welfare Fund with an aim to provide financial assistance to these wards to continue their studies.
