Gupta demands removal do encroachments on migrant’s property
10/12/2006 11:39:41 PM

JAMMU | OCT 12
Voicing his serious concern over the reports that the properties of the Kashmiri migrants as also the land of their religious places are being encroached upon by certain elements, the former union minister and a senior leader of BJP, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has urged upon the state governor and all other concerned to took into the matter and take immediate measures to remove all such encroachments.
Responding to the reports that the properties left by Kashmiri Pandits and the lands of the temples are being occupied by certain elements, Prof. Gupta said that this is an onslaught on the secular ethos and attempts to chose all the doors for the return of migrants, who were forced out in a painful situation created by the terrorists backed by the fundamentalists and secessionists.
After forcing out f the minorities from the so-called ‘Azad Kashmir’, the fundamentalists and communalists has designed the cleanse of Kashmir valley but it is regrettable that the ruling leaders who claim to be secular are failing to protest the properties of the migrants, not to say f having any sincere effort to ensure their return and rehabilitation in Kashmir, he added.
Lashing upon the Congress and its allies, both present and erstwhile, Prof. Gupta said that they owe an exploration about their secular character that why are still having a full fledged custodian department to guard the properties of those who had migrated Pakistan during the partition of the country 58 years ago and have opted for the citizenship of that country but why they have not created any such an agency to protect the properties of the Kashmiri Pandits and others who are staying in camps and other places like refugees within their country.
The former Union Minister pointed out that during the NDA rule led by Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee an Action Plan envisaging an expenditure of Rs. 2800 crore was formulated and a considerable part of this amount was spent also for going ahead to ensure the return and rehabilitation of these Kashmir Migrants but mysteriously this coalition has scuttled the plan by having 2-room sets in Jammu itself for these migrants.
He further alleged that during the past 18 years about 1.5lakh new recruitments were made in the Valley but none of the youths of the migrants were allowed to join the services in Kashmir.
He further castigated the Congress, National Conference and other allies of the coalition and questioned that why the Kashmiri Pandit migrants were not provided government jobs in Kashmir even after securing applications from them some five years ago. Over 20 thousand youths had applied for the purpose.
Prof. Gupta said this was highly intriguing that the ruling leaders of the state were quite eager for return and rehabilitation of those who had gone to Pakistan/PoK for trainings and weapons but are not worried about the future the migrants and other refugees.
