A recent survey has revealed that when compared with the industrial sectors, the agriculture has contributed 24.60 per cent to the state's GSDP. The industrial sector has contributed over 29.60 per cent to the GSDP. As many as 20 years, ago the agriculture sector used to contribute over 47 per cent to the GSDP.
In the context of this development, the state Government has despite financial constrainsts decided to heavily subsidise on purchase of agricultural and farm equipments.
Official sources said that in case of purchase of tractors, the Government has decided to subsidise the purchase by Rs.45,000 followed by Rs.20,000 in case of purchase of fertiliser drills. For power tillers the Government will pay subsidy of R s.15,000 and for potato platers and diggers Rs.15,000.
Intrestingly, the Government will be increasing the agricultural and horticultural production during the next financial year.
