| J&K Police prepare for All India Sports Meet | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 20: Aiming at improved performance at the national level, the Jammu and Kashmir Police prepare its athletes for taking part in the 58th All India Police Sports Meet to be held at Pune in Maharashtra from March six. In this five-day sports meet of Boxing Cluster, J&K Police is fielding its teams in boxing (men and women), wrestling and weightlifting. “We are in the process of finalizing the teams for all the three events. Hopefully the final list would be in place by the end of next week,” Sports Officer of J&K Police, Jameel Ahmed said. In all these three events, J&K Police have medal hopes, especially in men and women boxing. “All the three events of boxing, wrestling and weightlifting are medal winning games for us, so efforts are being made to select competitive and medal winning teams out of the best stuff available,” informed the Sports Officer. The event, wherein police teams from all the states of the country shall take part, is being organised by Maharashtra Police under the banner of All India Police Sports Control Board.“The J&K contingent, comprised of about 60 athletes, shall proceed for the venue on April two,” disclosed Jameel Ahmed.
