| SECURITY FORCES ON THEIR TOES AHEAD OF PRESIDENT KALAM’S VISIT TO KASHMIR | | | Srinagar, July 24 :-Security and intelligence agencies are on toes. Their men and officers have been carrying out regular drill for ensuring an incident free two-day stay of President,Dr A.P.J.Kalam. Dr Kalam is scheduled to visit Leh on July 28 where he will visit Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre and the Degree College. In the afternoon he is scheduled to fly to Srinagar where in the evening he will address the joint session of the state Legislature. The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr Basharat Ahmed, recently visited Leh where he reviewed the security arrangements. He interacted with senior functionaries of the Army and the ITBP. In Srinagar the police and paramilitary forces have been asked to remain on a high alert so that militants were not able to kick up any law and order problem. The President will spent the night in Srinagar and on July 29 preside over the diamond Jubilee celebrations of the state High Court. Additional companies of security forces have been deployed in and around the Assembly and High Court premises. The security forces carry out sanitisation exercise two to three times a day during which they ensure that no explosive material had been planted in the area. The state administration has decided to impose restrictions on traffic between the Assembly/High court premises to the Raj Bhawa via the Boulevard on July 28 and 29.During these two days the passenger transport services to the Mughal gardens,and their adjoining areas will be diverted on Dalgate-Naseem Bagh road. Since Dr Kalam has evinced interest in interacting with school and college students the Government plans to organise President-student meeting in the Raj Bhawan.
