SIDDHARTH
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20: A home coming of a star of Jammu proscenium that has made an indelible mark with her artistic prowess in Capital is eagerly awaited.
Kajal Suri, a name synonym with the best in thespian art in Jammu till she left for her further pursuits in Capital since 1997 would be a star attraction for jammuites who since have missed her artistic grandeur that used to vanquish the ultra mundane too easily.
"I am returning to the field after a long absence of 12 years and since the role played by me in the play 'Be-Libas' is quite a new experience after a decade, I have tried to put in my best to deliver the result," said Kajal while speaking to this correspondent from Delhi.
Kajal who is scheduled to land in Jammu on 22nd March, the day of her performance sounded quite upbeat about her new venture which she terms as her second innings in the arena.
"I am very happy to return into the field and that too performing in jammu among my own people would be really a wonderful experience," chuckles Kajal adding that since after leaving Jammu she got very much occupied in her job in All India Radio and her family that she could not spare time for her "First Love".
" I have a very supportive family inclusive of my husband and children because of whom I undertook this venture, otherwise remaining integrated to theatrical activities by the artists having families to look after is a really challenging affair," she said.
Earlier in Jammu and Kashmir, Kajal's theatrical excellence emerged as the most powerful idiom for artistic genre here for which she was a considered as 'the unbeatable'.
Her impregnable forte of dramaturgy in itself used to be guiding force for her self-appraisal in the field as she ruled the state theatricals with her unmatched histrionics.
Recipient of four times Best Actress award of the JK State Academy, Kajal has to her credit the performances of the world famous playwrights like Shankar Shesh, Satish Alekar, and Badsal Sircar.
"She is an institution in herself. Performing with her always used to be a new class and an experience for me as I always found her nuance coming up with variegated shades of clinical perfections for different theatrical presentation, be it Badal Sircar's Ant Nahin or Shankar Shesh's Raktbeej," said Vikram Sharma, the pioneer of English theatre in Jammu Drama competition who used to be one of the team members of Kajal's presentations.
About Kajal's individuality as a human being and as an artist, Vikram says, "She is a person possessing quality of a highly intellectual vision and broadened perspectives. Though as an artist she is a perfect performer and as an individual she is a complete human being. Seldom a person is bestowed with such qualities that Kajal posses".
Her performance that is being slated for March 22 is in league with North Zone Cultural Centre endeavor to bring a theatrical festival in Jammu which would be held for five days starting March 21.
