| HC restrains 158 Patwaris promotions | | |

Jammu, Mar 20: Justice Virender Singh of J&K High Court in a petition challenging the promotion of 158 Patwaries as Girdwaras, has directed the respondents that until next date of hearing, the official respondents directed not to go ahead with the process of further promotion and issued notice to the State and private respondents returnable within four weeks.
Court direction has been issued in a writ petition filed by Ram Kumar and Ors through Adv Dheeraj Choudhary challenging the promotion orders issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu on December 31, 2009 whereby 158 Patwaries promoted as Girdawars including juniors to the petitioners and seeking direction to the official respondents to promote the petitioner No 1 & 2 as Girdawars with effect from December 31, 2009 along with all consequential benefits. ---JNF
