| JKCC lifts Challenger Cup cricket trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 21: Junior Khalsa Cricket Club (JKCC) today clinched the Challenge Cup Cricket Tournament trophy registering an impressive five-wicket win over Khalsa Cricket Club (KCC) in the final played today at Baba Julla Cricket Ground, Gole Gujral, near here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, KCC made 99 runs losing all their wickets, which in reply, JKCC chased in 15.3 overs with five wickets in hand. Jaspal Singh remained top scores with 29 scores. Bunty and Gagan took three wickets each while Panther bagged two from JKCC. Later, chasing the target, JKCC reached the required total 100 runs for the loss of five wickets in 15.3 overs. Ranjha contributed maximum 26 runs while Gagan and Lovlu contributed 20 and 21 runs respectively. From KCC, Gagan was most successful bowler with three wickets. For his all round performance of taking away three wickets and then contribution of 20 runs, Gagan was adjudged as man of the match. In the final and prize distribution function, former Deputy Mayor Jammu Muincipal Corporation, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal was chief guest. General secretary of the J& Olympic Association Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Chaman Lal Bhagat, former Corporator Ward No. 40 and Padamdev Singh, organising secretary of the Bawa Julla Playing Ground were among others prominent people who witnessed the final match of the tournament.
