| Comedy play ‘Intzaar’ staged | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 21: AS Part of weekly theatre, an adaptation of Sadat Hassan Manto’s short Urdu play ‘Intzaar’ was staged at Natrang’s Studio Theatre. The play was adapted and directed by Sumeet Sharma. The play presented a very hilarious situation in which a boy, ‘Mantzar’ was waiting for his beloved anxiously to come in a much awaited meeting, to the extent that even half an hour was difficult to spend. He used to speak with his own self and innovates different ways to pass the time calmly, He discussed the daily budget, music, literature etc. whatever he could think to divert his attention from the palpitation which he is feeling in the process of waiting, but nothing works. To make the situation even worse, some unwanted guests arrive which make his condition miserable. Finally when the time of meeting comes and the girlfriend arrives, he falls unconscious because of overtiredness. The girlfriend thinks he is unconcerned about the meeting and is sleeping, in the disgust, she leaves and the expected quality time turned to be an ironical disaster. Mohit Sharma as ‘Mantzar’ was successful in getting the appreciation of the audience. He was equally supported by Rohit Verma as his inner self. Richa Sharma as girlfriend was equally confident, Pankush Verma as Friend and Ankush Lakhnotra as Newspaper Vendor impressed all with their performance. Lights were operated by Gaurav Jamwal. Mohd Yaseen coordinated the show.
