| SPO's daughter charred to death | | | Jammu: The daughter of a Special Police Officer (SPO) was charred to death, while he himself and his son survived with serious burns in a fire that broke out in their house at Plawn Kuntwara in Kishtwar late Saturday night.
SPO Vinay Kumar and his family members were fast asleep when fire broke out in their house at Plawn Kuntwara under mysterious circumstances late last night.
In the fire, Vinay, his son Aman and daughter Rita Devi sustained critical burn injuries, police sources said.They were rescued and evacuated to hospital by their neighbours. Sources said while Rita succumbed to her wounds in the hospital, the condition of other two was stated to be serious.
Their house was gutted completely in the fire. Sources said though the exact cause of fire was yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigations revealed that it could be electric short-circuit.
Police had, however, registered a case under section 174 of CrPC and initiated a probe into the incident.
