| 40,000 devotees pay obeisance at Chountra Mata Shrine | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Mar 22: A record number of about 40,000 pilgrims visited Chountra Mata Shrine to pay their obeisance at the Holy darbar of Goddess to seek her blessings for their well being and over all prosperity on the sixth day of ensuing Navratras on Sunday. It may be recalled that devotees on every Chaitra Navratras, hailing from Ramnagar, Thial, Gujru-Nagrota lit the sacred Joyti of Chountra Mata at Narsing Dev temple in Ramnagar town, Shiv temple Thial and Durga temple Gujru Nagrota on the first day of holy Navratras where people take glimpse of the joyti and offer prayers.
On the first Sunday of Navratras, the sacred joyties are carried to Chountra Mata Darbar in the form of big processions chanting religious hymns in praise of Dugra Ji.
The District Administ-ration had made adequate arrangements of sanitation, security, first-aid, drinking water and power supply while the local and social organization also arrange free langers and extend other required facilities to devotees at the darbar site. Like-wise, the devotees also offered their prayers at the Shrines of Baggian Wali Mata in Darsoo village, Mahamaya Than in Urlian , Mahakali Mata at Rehambal in Tehsil, Udha-mpur and Mahamaya Durga temple at Barigarh in Tehsil Majalta. |
