| Legislators suggest measure to improve | | |

JAMMU, Mar 22: Initiating discussions on the Demands of Grants for the PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control (PHE, I & FC) today in the Legislative Assembly, several members gave suggestions for improving and upgrading the functioning of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control departments.
Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan sought up-gradation of various PHE schemes in Handwara constituency.
He asked for taking up fresh Irrigation schemes, Bore wells to improve the irrigational potential. He also urged steps to overcome water scarcity in the area.
Ashok Kumar demanded establishment of Hydraulic Division in Ramban and installation of hand pumps in water scarcity areas. He also requested for setting up of new Lift Irrigation Schemes to improve the irrigational facilities in his Constituency.
Choudhary Mohammad Aslam appreciated the steps taken by the Government to improve the drinking water supply and irrigation facilities in his constituency. Yet steps to be taken in protect the valuable land from soil erosion and urged for taking up of new flood protection schemes.
Feroz Khan demanded early completion of on-going irrigation schemes, besides up-gradation of existing schemes in Kargil. He urged for tapping the glacier water for irrigation purposes.
Sham Choudhary sought up-gradation of existing irrigational facilities and engagement of manpower for manning the tube wells in Suchetgarh constituency. He demanded repairs of hand pumps and setting up of new lift irrigation schemes in the area.
Dr Mohammad Shafi demanded wanted steps to be taken for improve quality of drinking water to save the people from various water borne diseases. He also urged conceiving new irrigation schemes in his Constituency.
Abdul Razzak Zowra demanded early completion of on-going schemes in his Constituency, besides creation of new irrigation schemes.
Hakim Mohammad Yasin advocated framing durable sources before taking up new PHE schemes so that benefits of the schemes reach the targeted areas. He also urged for improving the mechanism of monitoring of various schemes to fix accountability.
Er Abdul Rashid asked for regularization of all illegal water connections in Langate constituency. He also suggested for making officers of PHE and Irrigation more accountable for better results. Irfan Shah demanded replacement of old water pipes and early commissioning of Dood Ganga water supply schemes to overcome the water requirement in some parts of Batamalloo constituency. He also requested for beautification of flood bunds and installation of hand pumps at public places.
Rafi Ahmad Mir requested up-gradation of irrigation schemes in his Constituency and sought timely steps to improve drinking water supply in the area.
Bharat Bushan urged for making provision of deep drilling tube wells in Kandi areas of his Constituency and demanded adequate water tanker supply in vulnerable areas. He also sought early release of water in Ranbir Canal to save the crops. He also sought renovation/upgradation of Ranjan Lift Irrigation Scheme.
Abdul Rehman Veeri suggested for tapping all water resources for irrigational purpose to enhance the agriculture production in his Constituency. He also sought enhancement of capacities of existing canals to cover more areas. He also demanded beautification of banks of river Jehlum at Bijbehara.
Ashwani Sharma advocated making effective planning of framing various schemes so that their benefit reaches to common man. He also demanded improvement in the de-silting of canals to discharge more water. He also sought early commissioning of PHE scheme for Bishnah town.
Krishan Chander Bhagat demanded enhancement of remuneration for those engaged to run various PHE and Irrigation Schemes and demanded adequate funds for completion of on-going water supply schemes in his constituency.
Bimla Luthra demanded installation of public water points at various places in Jammu for public convenience.
Nizam-ud-Din Bhat demanded adequate funding for developing more filtration plants. He also sought allocation for the projected Minor Irrigation Schemes in Bandipora. Javed Mustaffa Mir sought provision of funds for maintaining existing WSS. He also demanded water supply to some scarcity areas through tanker services. Jugal Kishore demanded funds for two new WSS in his Constituency, besides adequate funding for completion of on-going WSS.
Yash Paul Kundal demanded commissioning of six tube wells in Samba area to provide adequate water supply to the people. He also sought installations of more hand pumps in his Constituency. Abdul Haq Khan advocated formulation of a water supply scheme for the people of Machhal and demanded revival of old schemes. Peerzada Mansoor demanded setting up of filtration plant at Achhabal for providing safe drinking water to the people. He urged for construction of Khuk to irrigate the orchards Khuman-Dooru Lift Irrigation Scheme.
Prof Chaman Lal Gupta sought close coordination among various executive agencies engaged in completing different projects and urged for timely completion of these projects. He demanded early commissioning of tube wells established in Jammu West. Aijaz Jan demanded early commissioning of tube wells and bore wells stands already completed in Poonch constituency, release of adequate funds for irrigation and flood control departments and provide water supply through tankers in hilly areas of his constituency.
BS Mankotia advocated for bringing legislation to stop pollution in water. He also urged to fixing of the responsibility on the officers preparing projects for new schemes which are not proving beneficial for long run.
Bharat Bushan demanded early completion of Khoi Water Supply Scheme and strict action against the encroachers of irrigation khulls.
Lal Chand urged revival of three irrigation schemes of his Constituency. He also demanded construction of Sewa Lift Irrigation Scheme to increase the agriculture production in Bani.
Mohammad Khalil Band demanded separate district offices of PHE and Irrigation for Pulwama and Shopian. He also sought beautification of banks of river Jehlum falling in Pulwama district. Abdul Gaffar Sofi advocated early commissioning at Lift Irrigation Schemes and disilting of canals and Khuls before April 15 so that farmers were benefitted in seedling paddy on time. Radhay Sham Sharma demanded early release of funds for approved schemes under PHE and Irrigation in his Constituency. |
